In 2012, COPORWA began dealing directly with the issue of hunger among Potters/HMPs by initiating income generating activities. Specifically, COPORWA created many cooperatives and associations in several districts to facilitate access to credit and to encourage the culture of working and earning money. 

Many cooperatives were focused on traditional pottery, such as the cooperatives of Muhanga and Kacyiru.
